Electronic Music at its best

Whilst putting the finishing touches to my next release I wanted to make a conscious effort to share music from other artists that I have been really enjoying listening too.

Recently I have been listening to Piety of Ashes by The Flashbulb, which is such a beautiful electronic album. Benn Jordan really excels at delivering a record which knows when to be minimal and when to have layers.

He manages to blend traditional instruments and electronic sounds together to keep each track fresh and interesting, such as Hypothesis where a choir is used alongside bouncey Rhodes-style keyboard parts.

The movement between different ideas and parts is sometimes subtle and sometimes drastic but in both cases keeps you interested and when repetitive parts are used they do not become stale quickly like with many electronic tracks.

Nama Recordings Mix

Had the pleasure of putting together a mix for the wonderful Nama Recordings Allay Sessions.

It was great getting the chance to mix together some of my favourite music and host the show.

Check out this and all the other great music over at Nama Recordings Soundcloud Page:

An updated taster

Curving Lines is a track that I’ve had a demo version streaming for a while now and it has over 8,000 plays so firstly, thank you to everyone who has listened and download the track.

I have recently made some changes to the track. I felt the Glitchy parts were fighting with each other a bit and so I have made some changes. This track will be featured on the new album Here to be Humans, coming out towards the start of next year.

As Soundcloud now allows you to update a file rather than delete and upload a new version the new version now lies here:

New Music Sample

So for years i’ve wanted to make more of the type of music that I would like to listen to when relaxing in the evening or on a car journey etc, but for a long time I would not enjoying listening back to my own creations. I am finding that now, after years of hard work I am finally getting to a place where my own melodies and hooks get stuck in my head almost to the point where I think they are someone else’s or i’ve heard them from a song purely because they feel too good to be mine. This is really enjoyable and I am finding that I can now share my music with people more comfortably and I am excited about it rather than anxious about how it will be received.

I have been working on some Glitchier tracks but still fairly downtempo. I have been listening to a lot of Tipper, Koloto, edIT and Trifonic and this is definitely apparent in the new samples that are coming from it. If you like this type of thing then definitly check out Tippers Forward Escape album, Trifonics Emergence Album, edIT’s Certified Air Raid Material or Koloto’s Mechanica EP. If the only thing you get from reading this is the enjoyment of their music then hopefully there is a lot more value to reading this post than me just talking about myself and being very self indulgent.

I wanted to share this little clip of one of the new tracks which includes an accidental vocal sample that was on the end of one of my pieces of sound design for the drums which I ended up making a groove from and pitching in different ways. I hope you enjoy it. There are plenty more low quality samples on my instagram channel and hopefully this sample will feature in a release towards the end of 2017.

Joey Fehrenbach Remix

It’s a wonderful day when you have completed a remix of one of your favourite artists, and it only gets better when they say kind things about it.

Recently whilst working on new material I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to remix the wonderful Joey Fehrenbach.

Joey is the master of downtempo music and I felt honoured to be able to bring a glitchy feel to one of his tracks.

If you’re a fan of Jon Hopkins, Tycho or Tipper you should definitely check out his work here:

You can hear the remix of his track Jellyfish here:
